CEN, CENELEC, ETSI and ANSI, the European and
American Standardization Bodies, are pleased to announce their
Conference on Interoperability: Key to International
Business, to be held in Warsaw (Poland) from 6 to
7 February 2008.
Interoperability is the ability of two or more
networks, systems, devices, applications or components to
exchange information between them and use the information
so exchanged. In our globalised society and given the increasing
diversity of systems and applications, interoperability makes
possible the development of a mass market and avoids the undesirable
effects of fragmentation. In this context, standards are a
key tool to reach a satisfactory level of interoperability
amongst the global market. This is why interoperability is
the key to international business!
The CEN-CENELEC-ETSI-ANSI conference on interoperability
will provide a lively and outstanding forum where all stakeholders
can discuss and exchange views on this key element in standardization,
and can review the state-of-the-art on standardised solutions
to interoperability problems, tackling issues such as home
and building electronic systems (HBES), eBusiness interoperability,
radio frequency identification devices (RFID), entertainment
(multimedia, digital TV), eHealth, eLearning, eSkills and
eGovernment, technical interoperability demonstration and
testing, and quality of standards.
